About JAMA CareerNet

We Bring Employers and Job Seekers Together
JAMA CareerNet’s primary mission is to be an efficient search engine for physician job opportunities in the United States primarily but internationally as well. It is the single online access point for recruitment listings from JAMA & Archives Journals. Our job database is updated weekly, every Friday evening.

This site offers many other resources for physicians interested in professional development at every point in their career, including medical students, residents or fellows, and physicians newly in practice, well established, or planning for retirement.

You’ll find information on medical training, location and licensure, articles on career development and personal finance, as well as links to journal-based CME activity and meetings of medical interest. These items come from JAMA & Archives Journals, American Medical News, The Wall Street Journal, and other trusted sources.

Free to Job Seekers
Whether you are interested in a primary care or medical specialty position, you can access the full breadth and depth of recruitment listings from all 10 scientific journals through this site. Searching job opportunities is free. You don’t need to register, but we encourage you to Create an account so you can take advantage of the job tools.

With your free account, you have full access to the job tools that will allow you to save customized job search criteria, receive e-mail alerts when new positions relevant to your search are added, post your CV and cover letter, specify whether all or selected employers can see your data, apply online for positions of interest, and keep track of all information in a convenient filing system.

A Great Value for Employers
Few online networks can match the combined multispecialty, multi-journal reach of JAMA CareerNet. Links refer job seekers from the Web sites of JAMA and the 9 specialty Archives Journals, from American Medical News, and from other American Medical Association (AMA) Web sites. For rates and data on posting physician jobs, please see How to advertise.

An Online Community for Physician Career Development
We want to support a dynamic online community interested in career development—physicians, educators, employers, and anyone involved in healthcare. This site will grow and evolve over time, with new features added on a regular basis. We are interested in your needs and opinions. Please explore this site, refer to our FAQs and the Help section, and then Contact us with suggestions or concerns.

JAMA CareerNet is owned by the AMA and is published under the direction of JAMA & Archives Journals business and editorial staff. This site’s Privacy Policy, Advertising Principles, and business practices are clearly defined and rigorously enforced. The job search tools and some content are provided under a service agreement with Dow Jones & Co, Inc. The job and resume databases are maintained and hosted by CareerCast, a private firm in which Dow Jones holds a minority equity position.
